Health and safety are a priority at Smith’s Canine Club, which is why vaccination requirements are essential in a group care environment.

Dog daycare involves shared spaces and close interaction, making preventative health measures vital for everyone’s wellbeing.

Vaccination requirements

We require all our dogs to be vaccinated against the following before boarding:

  • Canine distemper
  • Canine parvovirus
  • Canine adenovirus
  • Kennel cough (Bordetella)

Up-to-date flea and worming treatments are also required, and evidence of all to be provided on the first session.

Why kennel cough vaccination is important

Kennel cough spreads easily where dogs mix socially. While often mild, it can be uncomfortable and disruptive particularly for puppies, senior dogs, or dogs with weaker immune systems.

Vaccination policies help:

  • Reduce the risk of illness
  • Protect vulnerable dogs
  • Maintain a safe, trusted daycare environment

Our policies are designed in line with recognised guidance from organisations such as DEFRA and local authority standards.

What owners should do

We always recommend checking your dog’s vaccination record in advance and updating accordingly. Speaking with your vet if you’re unsure what’s required.
